I had been using an older home built PC as a ROON Core server. It was a foot or so behind where I sit at my desk. The fan in the power supply was starting to go so it has slowly kept getting noisy. I didn't realize how loud it had gotten until I turned it off to replace the whole computer! I decided that, instead of putting any more money into the old PC, I would replace it with something with a smaller footprint. This mini PC totally fit the bill! You can see in the pictures what I was using and how this little PC is nicely tucked away. It is very quiet and I only hear it when the fan spins up for a couple seconds on a restart. It is easily powerful enough for what I am using it for. Actually, it is way overpowered but that is a good thing because I may shift a few other processes over to it from my other home server. It is powerful enough that, in my opinion, most people could use this as their desktop PC and not have any issues. Depending on usage, they might have to add more drive space but, with so much being saved to the cloud now, it may not be an issue for many.
Setup was simple. Plug in the power, plug in a monitor, mouse, and keyboard, and hit the power button. Follow the on screen prompts and you are good to go. I've installed Windows countless times over the years (3.1 to 11) but it has gotten easier and way quicker over the years! I love how fast things have gotten with the shift to SSD from spinning hard drives. This mini PC definitely benefits from the speed of an SSD.
Totally thrilled with this little dude!
